Complimentary access

How free Plus or Pro access works, when it ends, and how to keep it.

What complimentary access is

From time to time we grant complimentary Plus or Pro access for a fixed window. Founder gifts, beta-tester thank-yous, and conference handouts all use the same mechanism.

Full tier access

Plus or Pro

While complimentary access is active, you have the full feature set of the granted tier with no card on file required.

Fixed end date

Time limited

There is no Stripe billing record, so there are no receipts, and the access has a hard end date.

How you know it is active

Your dashboard subscription panel shows the tier label, Plus or Pro, with a Complimentary chip alongside it and the end date underneath. The same information appears on Billing.

Expiry reminders

14 days before
A dashboard banner appears and stays visible as a backup.
7 days before
We send the first expiry email.
1 day before
We send the final reminder.

Both emails are gated by your subscription update preference. Turn that off and you will not receive expiry mail. The dashboard banner is unaffected.

Note
If you subscribe from the billing page before the end date, reminders stop and the dashboard banner clears the next time the page loads.

What happens when it ends

On the expiry date a daily job moves your account to Basic. Your data and shift history stay. Only paid features pause until you subscribe.

Stays
  • Shifts, invoices, expenses, documents, organisation list, and profile.
  • Public listing and the in-app inbox.
  • Up to 5 self-invoiced PDFs a month on Basic.
Pauses
  • Plus features such as auto-chasers, compliance passport, booking messaging, and Ask Sandy.
  • Pro features such as Xero sync, REST API access, and advanced reporting.

Subscribing afterwards restores paid features immediately. There is no waiting period and no data re-import.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my complimentary access end?
We use complimentary access for short-term gifts. An indefinite free Plus or Pro account is a separate decision, usually handled case by case. If you think yours should not have an end date, write to us before it expires.
If I subscribe now, do I lose the rest of my complimentary window?
No. Subscribing during the complimentary window starts your paid subscription on the day the complimentary access ends, so you do not pay twice. Your billing day becomes the day after the complimentary end date.
What if I miss both reminders and the access ends?
Sign in normally, go to Billing, and pick a tier. Plus and Pro features unlock immediately. Anything you logged on Basic since the downgrade is preserved.
Can I see the exact end date?
Yes. Billing shows it. The expiry reminder emails also state the date in plain English.
