Plus and Pro start with a 14-day free trial the first time you subscribe: a card is taken at the start, nothing is charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel before then from your billing page. The trial is offered once per customer, so a returning subscriber is billed from the start of the new subscription.

Plus removes the 5-shift and 5-invoice monthly caps and adds the business side: auto-chasers, expenses and receipts read for you, the multi-year tax planner and earnings forecast, NHS pension forms for GPs, the document store and compliance passport, calendar sync, booking confirmations, collecting feedback, subscription pausing, the peer rate benchmark, and Ask Sandy, the assistant that answers questions about your own numbers. The appraisal engine is not on that list and never will be: your professional record and its exports, reflections written with Sandy or by voice, learning needs, the CPD evidence store and its bundle, the GMC appraisal pack and its export, your feedback reports with their PDF and verification code, the monthly cycle reminder, and the NMC revalidation tracker and portfolio are free on every plan, permanently, with higher daily limits on Plus where a limit applies. Booking messaging is free too. Feedback is split down the middle: starting a round, inviting people and reminding them are on Plus, while every report you have already collected, with its verification code, its PDF, the themes panel and your NMC log entry, is yours on any plan, including after a downgrade.

No. The price is a flat monthly fee. Sessional takes 0% of your work and never holds your money.

Yes. The NMC revalidation tracker is on every tier, including free Basic, because revalidation is a regulatory obligation, not a paid feature. It counts your practice hours from logged shifts against the 450-hour target over your three-year cycle.

Collecting feedback is part of Plus: starting a round, sending invitations and reminders, printing patient cards and drafting a covering note. Reading what you have collected is free on every plan and stays free after a downgrade: your reports, their verification codes, the themes panel and your NMC log. If your plan lapses while a round is open, the invitations already sent keep working and responses keep arriving; you can close the round, and you can send more once you are back on Plus. The report PDF and the appraisal pack are free on every plan. Sessional collates the answers, so you see totals from five responses upwards and never one person's answers, and no report is benchmarked against anyone else. The independence is built in rather than promised: you are never shown which of the people you invited replied, counts and comments update each morning rather than as answers land, comments appear only once at least three of them have been checked, a questionnaire filled in while you are signed in to your own account is excluded and counted, nothing can be deleted or cherry-picked and a revoked round still appears in your appraisal pack, and exporting a report records a version of the figures with a code your appraiser can check at sessional.co.uk/verify/feedback/ followed by the code printed on the report footer. Our own support staff cannot read responses either.

Yes, from your own notes or your own answers, and never from nothing. Jot down what happened, or answer Sandy's questions one at a time, and it composes the three fields from what you gave it, adding no facts, outcomes or opinions you did not state. The draft is yours to read, compare against your answers line by line, edit and confirm as your own account before it saves. The record keeps the notes you gave and the model that composed them, and an export says the record was written with the assistant from your own notes and answers. Hours and points are never filled in for you.

Basic includes up to 5 shifts and 5 invoices a month. If you work more than that, Plus removes both caps. You still get the cross-employer pay-check and, if you are a nurse or midwife, the NMC revalidation tracker.

Many locums pay an accountant mainly for the record-keeping, not the arithmetic. Sessional keeps those records and does the calculations for a flat £14.99 a month, so you can file your own return for free, or hand your accountant clean books and pay them for less. It does not file your return or give regulated advice, and plenty of locums use both: Pro exports to Xero so your accountant can take it from there.

Yes. There is no minimum term beyond your current billing period. Cancel or switch from your billing page.

No. Sessional keeps your income and expense records digital, which is the foundation Making Tax Digital requires. The quarterly submission goes through your accountant or a recognised tool. Sessional does not file on your behalf.

No. Export your shifts to CSV, your invoices and revalidation portfolio as PDFs, and on Pro, sync to Xero. Your records are yours to take.
