Pricing

Simple pricing. No commission.

Start free and stay free on Basic. Move up when the admin grows. A flat monthly fee, no contracts, and no per-shift fees.

Plus is £4.99 a month during the launch period, which ends on 1 August 2026. After that it is £14.99 a month.

Two figures worth keeping in view.

The comparison is yours to make. These are the numbers the page anchors against, stated plainly rather than implied.

Alongside your accountant

Plus is £14.99 a month, £179.88 a year. For that, Sessional keeps your records and does the calculations all year round. You file your own return for free, or hand clean books to your accountant and pay them for less. It does not file your return or give regulated advice.

Making Tax Digital

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is mandatory from April 2026 over £50,000, April 2027 over £30,000, and April 2028 over £20,000. Sessional keeps the digital records this requires on every tier. For the quarterly submission, export to your accountant or a recognised tool. Sessional does not file on your behalf.

What you are paying for.

Your year-to-date earnings, a forward tax-year projection, and a recommended reserve, updated as you log work. The admin handled, so you keep more of your day.

What is on each tier.

Every feature, by tier, in one table. Ticks where it is included. The midwifery rows are split so the free document categories and the Plus competency log read as the two distinct things they are.

Pricing questions.

The launch price, the commission model, and where Basic is enough.

Why is Plus £4.99 now and £14.99 later?

£4.99 is the launch price, and the launch period ends on 1 August 2026. After that, Plus is £14.99 a month. We state the change date up front rather than letting it arrive as a surprise. Basic stays free throughout.

What exactly does Plus add over Basic?

Plus removes the 5-shift and 5-invoice monthly caps and adds auto-chasers, expense logging, the multi-year tax planner, NHS pension forms for GPs, the document store, the earnings forecast with a recommended tax reserve, the anonymised peer rate benchmark, the compliance passport for sharing documents by signed link, booking messaging with organisations, and Ask Sandy for questions about your own numbers.

Do you take a commission?

No. The price is a flat monthly fee. Sessional takes 0% of your work and never holds your money.

I am a nurse or midwife. Is the NMC revalidation tracker free?

Yes. The NMC revalidation tracker is on every tier, including free Basic, because revalidation is a regulatory obligation, not a paid feature. It counts your practice hours from logged shifts against the 450-hour target over your three-year cycle.

I rarely send invoices directly. Is Basic enough?

Basic includes up to 5 shifts and 5 invoices a month. If you work more than that, Plus removes both caps. You still get the cross-employer pay-check and, if you are a nurse or midwife, the NMC revalidation tracker.

How does Sessional compare to using an accountant?

Many locums pay an accountant mainly for the record-keeping, not the arithmetic. Sessional keeps those records and does the calculations for a flat £14.99 a month, so you can file your own return for free, or hand your accountant clean books and pay them for less. It does not file your return or give regulated advice, and plenty of locums use both: Pro exports to Xero so your accountant can take it from there.

Can I cancel, or switch tiers?

Yes. Manage your subscription from the billing page at any time, including switching tier or cancelling. There is no contract.

Does Sessional file my Making Tax Digital submissions?

No. Sessional keeps your income and expense records digital, which is the foundation Making Tax Digital requires. The quarterly submission goes through your accountant or a recognised tool. Sessional does not file on your behalf.

Is my data locked in?

No. Export your shifts to CSV, your invoices and revalidation portfolio as PDFs, and on Pro, sync to Xero. Your records are yours to take.
