Lantum alternative? Marketplaces find the work. Sessional runs the admin after.

If you want a Lantum alternative to find locum shifts, Sessional is not one: it has no job board, no marketplace and supplies no shifts. What it does is the part after the booking. You log each shift, Sessional raises the invoice or tracks the payslip, and on Plus and Pro it chases overdue invoices, keeps your tax reserve and, for GPs, pre-fills NHS pension Forms A and B.

So the honest answer for most locums is not either, but both: a marketplace, agency or bank to find the work, and an admin tool to run it.

What is the difference between a shift marketplace and a locum admin tool?

A marketplace or staff bank connects you with organisations that have work to fill: you see shifts, apply or accept, and it handles the booking. An admin tool starts once you have the work. It records what you did and for whom, turns that into invoices, keeps track of who has paid, sets money aside for tax and fills in the forms your profession needs.

What do our sources say about Lantum?

Lantum is not one of the five products in our GP locum software comparison. Two sourced facts touch it. The first is from Locum Organiser's own pages:

Locum Organiser

Confirmed

Administration first: a diary that produces the monthly invoice, pension forms and tax records. Finding work runs through an integration with Lantum: you apply to Lantum jobs from the diary.[2][3]

The second is Lantum's own privacy policy on taking your data elsewhere, covered under switching below. Anything else about Lantum, including its prices and features, is not confirmed in our data, so we do not state it.

Can Sessional help me get booked at all?

Sessional

Confirmed

Administration first: sessions, invoices, expenses, tax, pension forms, professional record. For work, a public profile in the locum directory and a booking request form organisations use without an account. There is no job board and no marketplace; organisations that already know you book you through it.[1]

A public profile in the locum directory helps organisations that already know your name to find and book you. It is not a substitute for a marketplace's flow of new work.

How do I run marketplace shifts through Sessional?

  1. Book the shift where you found it. The marketplace, agency or bank keeps its own terms.
  2. Log it in Sessional. Each shift carries a billing mode: self-invoiced when you bill the organisation, agency-managed when an agency invoices and pays you, or PAYE at source when tax is taken before you are paid. See agency and PAYE shift tracking.
  3. Invoice or check the payslip. Self-invoiced shifts become invoices; for the others, mark each shift paid correctly, paid short or not paid yet with pay-flagging.
  4. Pension it if it qualifies. For GPs, freelance NHS work in a GP surgery can go on Forms A and B; our NHS pension guide for locum GPs sets out what qualifies.

How do I move my records from Lantum?

Its privacy policy says you can ask for your personal information to be transferred "to either yourself or a third party, in a structured, commonly used and machine readable format", and that it responds to these requests within 30 days.

Where to send the request: Lantum Limited, 1 Mark Square, London EC2A 4EG, or privacyrequest@lantum.com.

Use the data request letter in our switching guide, then send what you receive to us: Sessional's founder imports it with you, free, on every plan.

Questions about Lantum alternatives

Is Sessional a Lantum alternative for finding shifts?

No. Sessional has no job board and no marketplace, and it does not supply shifts. Organisations that already know you can book you through your Sessional profile and booking request form, but finding new work happens elsewhere: a marketplace, an agency, a staff bank or your own contacts.

Can I use Lantum and Sessional together?

Yes. Book the work wherever you find it, then log each shift in Sessional. Sessional records how each shift is paid, raises an invoice when you bill the organisation yourself, lets you mark a shift paid correctly, paid short or not paid when someone else pays you, and, for GPs on Plus and Pro, pre-fills NHS pension Forms A and B for eligible work.

How do I get my records out of Lantum?

Its privacy policy says you can ask for your personal information to be transferred "to either yourself or a third party, in a structured, commonly used and machine readable format", and that it responds to these requests within 30 days. Requests go to Lantum Limited, 1 Mark Square, London EC2A 4EG, or privacyrequest@lantum.com.

What does Lantum charge, and what features does it have?

We do not state that here. Lantum is not one of the five products in our sourced comparison, and we only publish competitor facts we have read on the vendor's own pages with a date. Check Lantum's own site for its current terms.

Keep finding work where you do. Run the admin here.

Basic is free with no card and no end date. Log the shifts you book anywhere, invoice or pay-check them, and see your year in one place. Working as a GP? See Sessional for locum GPs.
