Accessibility statement

What we aim for

Sessional Limited aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA across sessional.co.uk, including the dashboard and the pages an organisation reaches from a link in an email.

We are not a public sector body, so the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to us. We publish this statement anyway, because our users work in the NHS and because a tool that keeps your professional record should not be the thing that gets in your way.

What is in place today

• Every page declares its language, and page titles are unique and descriptive.
• Interactive elements carry a visible focus outline, so you can see where you are when moving through a page with a keyboard.
• The site honours your system setting for reduced motion, and animation is suppressed when you have asked for that.
• Light and dark themes are both first-class, and body text meets the AA contrast ratio in each.
• Pages reflow to a single column on a narrow screen and can be zoomed without content being cut off.
• Forms use real labels tied to their fields, and errors are announced rather than shown by colour alone.

What we know is not right yet

This list is honest rather than complete. We have not commissioned a full external audit, and no part of the site has been tested end to end with a screen reader, so there will be problems we have not found.

• No skip link. There is no “skip to content” control, so a keyboard user tabs through the navigation on every page before reaching the page itself.
• PDFs are not tagged. The invoices, pension forms, revalidation portfolios and appraisal packs we generate are untagged PDFs. A screen reader will read the text in them, but there is no heading structure, no table markup and no reading order, so they are hard work. If you need one of these documents in another format, ask us and we will send it.
• Small type in places. Some labels and footers are set in uppercase type at ten to eleven pixels. The colour contrast passes, but the size and the letter spacing make them harder to read than they should be.
• Charts and meters. The progress meters and charts on the dashboard carry their numbers as text nearby, but they are not individually described, so the shape of a trend is not conveyed without sight of it.
• Uploaded content. We cannot control the accessibility of a document you upload, or of a certificate an organisation sends you.

If something stops you

Write to [email protected] and tell us the page and what happened. We aim to reply within 24 hours on business days. If you need something we hold in a different format, ask and we will produce it; there is no charge for that.

If you are not satisfied with our reply, tell us again and it will reach the founder directly. We would rather hear about a problem twice than not at all.

How this statement was prepared

Prepared on 8 September 2026 from our own review of the site against WCAG 2.2 AA. It has not been externally verified. We will update it as we fix the items above, and we will keep listing what is still outstanding rather than removing the section.
